Type 1 Slow Metabolizer is defined by a specific pattern of endocrine and central nervous system (CNS) activity, along with distinct physical characteristics and health tendencies.Endocrine and Biochemical Activity

From a physiological standpoint, individuals with this metabolic type typically experience:

  • Para-Sympathetic Nervous System Dominance.
  • Decreased Thyroid Activity and Adrenal Medullary Insufficiency. An elevated level of tissue calcium relative to potassium often indicates this tendency toward low thyroid function.
  • Increased Parathyroid Activity and Increased Pancreatic Activity.
  • Tissue Alkalinity and Hypochlorhydria (reduced stomach acid).

Physical Characteristics The outward physical manifestations of a Type 1 Slow Metabolizer frequently include:

  • Fatiguelow body temperature, and cold extremities.
  • Low blood pressure, including orthostatic hypotension (a drop in blood pressure when standing up).
  • A tendency toward a pear-shaped body structure.

Associated Health Trends and Diet Because of these metabolic patterns, slow metabolizers are uniquely prone to hypoglycemia. This is due to increased glycogen storage triggered by insulin release, compounded by their adrenal insufficiency and low thyroid function.

For slow metabolizers, hypoglycemic symptoms can be triggered not only by refined carbohydrates and sugar but also by dairy products, juices, and high-fat foods.Furthermore, their inherently slow metabolic rate and energy production can be worsened by diets that are low in protein, high in carbohydrates, and high in fats.

To counter this, increase lean protein and unrefined carbohydrates while reducing fats, oils, milk products, and sugars.
